Sextant to A.I.S

The changes in long distance voyaging over 40 years of sailing

Tony and Connie will provide a slide show of their two major voyages:  the first from 1983-1990 and a second voyage from 2010-2020. The first voyage covers a circumnavigation of the Ring-of-Fire, i.e. the Pacific Ocean, and the second voyage covers an ‘almost’ circumnavigation from Victoria to Halifax. The discussion will highlight the changes seen in voyaging during these two very different time periods.

Both Tony and Connie grew up in Ontario slowly migrating out to the west coast with a 2 year stop in Banff AB. Arriving on the west coast they purchased their first boat, a Grampian 23. After a winter season spent cruising the shores of Vancouver Island they purchased the hull and deck of a Vancouver 27, finished it off and set about world voyaging.  Although now boatless they continue their interests in travelling but due to Covid19 now restrict their voyaging to 2 wheeled adventures around BC.

NOTE: only 30 people will be able to attend this and upcoming Speakers' Series.  Dinner will be served at 1800 (plated not buffet) and will cost $35 (includes taxes and gratuities).  The talk will begin at 1915.
