Speaker Series
Long distance solo sailing
Presented by Andrew Evans

Local single-handed specialist Andrew Evans will speak about the mental, emotional and psychological aspects of long distance, high performance solo sailing. With more than 10,000 copies sold all around the world, Andrew’s book, “Single-handed Sailing: Thoughts, Tips, Techniques & Tactics” has become the standard on this subject. It’s not the sailing, but what goes on inside your mind that truly differentiates single-handing from crewed sailing.
Andrew won't be bringing any books for sale but will be happy to sign copies if you bring them along. Also, there are a couple for sale in Tanners (if they're gone you can always order them through Tanners).

Each Speakers' Series event is preceded by a special buffet prepared by our Chef and his staff and is served at 18:00.
The dishes Chef prepares are often inspired by the topic of the talk. In the past we’ve dined in style on French, Mexican, Russian, British, and Thai cuisines, just to mention a few.
Contact the staff at the club to book seats for the Buffet.
Starting at 19:15, we are treated to an illustrated talk by SNSYC members or presenters from the wider community.
The presentations deal with such things as sailing exploits, travelling on foot and by bicycle in foreign lands, cruising on ships and canal boats, environmental issues and much more.
